Minutes of Board Meeting
October 13, 2004

In attendance: Kitty Fynbu (President), Jim Swinehart (Secretary), Pat Bracken
(Treasurer), Doug Farmer, Jeanne McClymont
1. September Minutes: There are no Sept minutes because there was not a quorum
2. Treasurer’s report: Since Witherbee NA has become the third NA with the Nebraska Community Foundation , our quarterly fee has been reduced to $25. Pat suggested that the $112.70 we currently have in our petty cash account be moved to our Community Foundation account. Passed unanimously.
3. General Meeting: October 19th , 7PM at Saratoga School. Ed Zimmer will speak on the history of this area. We will also discuss the possibility of parts of Irvingdale being eligible for historic status and Amendment One, which will be on the Nov. ballot. Kitty will bring apple cider. Alene will bring coffee and snacks for the children. This will be a dessert potluck. Robyn and Morgan Schumacher will provide childcare. Jim Phillips will write up the ballot for the slate of board members and conduct the election.
4. Holiday Party – Saturday, Dec 11th, 7 – 9 PM at Jeanne McClymont’s house. The board will provide food but guests may bring things as well. Childcare will be provided at Kitty’s house with paid babysitters. Kitty and Alene will work on getting items for a Silent Auction with an emphasis on soliciting from local business. Doug suggested going caroling later on in the evening.
5. Parks and Fundraising – Jeff Johnson has talked with Lynn John from parks and Rec about applying for fund to repair the fireplace in Rudge Park. Application for grants through Parks and Rec are due the first week of November. We also need to consider fundraising for our Stransky Park concert series.
6. Motocross – Dr Sumani want to relocate his motocross project to land close to the midget football field near Gooch’s Mill. Possible impact on surrounding neighborhoods was discussed particularly in regard to noise and dust. The issue will come to Planning Commission on Oct 27. Alene will gather more information and inform the board so we can write letters and plan appropriate testimony.
7. Stransky Park Concert Series – Doug has looked into rental of equipment for next years series and found the cost to be quite high. A suggestion was made to look into purchasing equipment instead. We will explore funding possibilities.
8. Spring Clean up – Adam Wall and Susan Jagoda are two possibilities for working with Jim to coordinate next year’s clean up. Jim will contact them.
9. Newsletter – Jeanne will contact Bryan Hospital about the possibility of underwriting the printing of our newsletter. The next newsletter will be two months from today. Articles so far are: fundraising for Stransky Concerts, Rudge Fireplace and a sno cone machine ( Jeanne), an article on street trees ( Steve Schawb –city arborist), and a Classified Ad section.
